No, Base owns the battery and manages the battery's charging and discharging schedule based on grid demand and energy prices. Rest assured, you do not pay for the electricity used to charge or discharge the battery system - Base takes care of it and adds a credit to your bill each month.
In case of a power outage, the house and battery are disconnected from the grid and all the energy in the battery goes towards providing backup power to the homeowner.
Base passes on some savings from this process to members, offering competitive solar buyback credits for excess solar energy and below-market-average rates for household energy consumption.
